"Little Boy’s Meeting With God"

It is always heartwarming to read motivating stories which uplift us. We may not be able to vouch for the story’s authenticity. But it is not important. What matters is that they capture our hearts, set us thinking and create a desire within us to act positively.

There once lived a little boy who wanted to meet God. He reckoned meeting God was not so simple and the trip would be a long and arduous one. So he packed his lunch consisting of 4 sandwiches and 4 cans of iced lemon tea in his red haversack. He set off his journey with much assurance.
However, he grew tired after walking for 10 minutes and decided to rest in a nearby park. There, he saw an old woman sitting alone on a bench, looking at the pigeons.
And while he was taking out his lunch, he noticed the old woman looking hungry. He offered her a sandwich. She accepted it joyfully and gave him an infectious smile, one that could light up the whole world. The boy was so enchanted by the smile and he wanted to see it one more time. So he offered her a can of iced lemon tea. And she gave him another priceless smile. The boy was so delighted seeing such a radiant smile.
They sat together — eating and smiling and enjoying mother nature. No words needed to be spoken in a setting where feelings are so pure.
Soon it was getting late and the boy packed his lunch box and started to go back home. After a few steps, he backtracked and dashed towards the woman. He gave her a big hug. The old woman gave him the most wonderful smile ever.
When the boy reached home, his mother noticed him beaming with joy. She asked him: “Where have you been to make you so happy?” He replied: “Mom, I had lunch with God.” And before his mother could interject, he cried out, “And she has the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”
Meanwhile, the old woman returned home, glowing with joy too. Her son was surprised by her demeanour and asked her: “Mom, what happened today that made you so happy?” The old woman replied, “Son, I had lunch in the park with God.” And before the son could interrupt, she added: “And God was so much younger than I had expected!”
The moral of the story is we experience the Almighty in the goodness in others. Nothing grandeur– just a sharing of simple food, a smile, a kind word or a listening ear gives one faith in humanity — Do not underestimate the power of little acts of love.
