"Models By Chance"

Post on: September 20, 2018

A lot of youngsters aspire to be models. There is no dearth in the number of competitions to unearth the new faces of the year. The most common question that modelling scouts receive from the aspirants is, “How do I become a fashion model?”

In this age, the internet has made it a catwalk or rather a walk in the park. With a click of the mouse, the pointers to be a model keep flooding in. One can capitalise on the information to learn the tricks of the trade. However, it is an uphill struggle just to get noticed in the first place.

Models gracefully strut their stuff on the catwalk runway. We get a picture of elegance and envy their glamorous lifestyle. However, what is hidden is the activities that go on behind the scene. Most of us fail to see the hard work that propels the rhythmic motion they sashay. Wouldn’t it be amazing if one does nothing and gets mileage to be a big star?

Call it pure luck or the grace of the Almighty, there are cases where the most unlikely people bask in the modelling limelight. I’ll showcase two of such stories where people found fame overnight. Their stories are uplifting and evoke a feel-good factor. Well who knows, you may be the next big overnight sensation.

Stunner No. 1–
Jeremy Meeks was charged with gun possession and resisting arrest. The Stockton police department posted his mugshot on the social media. It was phenomenal. It went viral; an avalanche of Likes and Shares followed. The internet loved him; it christened him “a handsome felon”. Upon his release, he began a modelling career. He now is a celebrity in his own right– he catwalks on New York Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week amongst his exploits.
Stunner No.2–
The moniker, “Tea Vendor to Model” rightly describes Arshad Khan. The Pakistani was only 18-years-old when he became an overnight sensation. He was minding his own business, making tea in an Islamabad bazaar when a light flashed on him. A photographer had clicked the blue-eyed stunner and posted it on the social media with the caption, “Hot Tea”. The photo began trending around the globe — from India to Paris. The rest is history.

The power of the social media is so immense and impacts our day-to-day lives. Regardless of living in any far-flung part of the world, performing a mundane job or waging a muted, crusade for a worthy cause, it can catapult you to worldwide acclamation.

The world is our oyster. In the current age, being famous need not be confined to the rich and well connected. A humble “Chai Walla”(tea seller) or criminal can soar the skies.

Well, I am not suggesting you have to be a criminal to be famous. However, Meeks’ new-found fame has put him on the right track — kudos to him.

The story about the remarkable guys may be long overdue…the hullabaloo may have waned; however, this article could serve to resurrect the interest in them. If you still haven’t heard about these fantastic guys yet, “stealthily” search “Jeremy Meeks” and “Arshad Khan” to catch a glimpse of their stunning looks.
