Tom Cruise is an enigma; he defies age. His boyish good looks never fail to charm. He is still alluring as when he made an impact in Top Gun in 1986.

As pilot Maverick, he was synonymous with the Aviator sunglasses and a cocky attitude. And he revived the sales of Ray ban sunglasses. Such is his charisma! He became a household action star without the need of a comic superhero franchise to catapult his career. He did it his own way — through sheer grit and performing his own breathtaking stunts.

In the local scene, after watching Top Gun in the 80s, every guy in my Redhill estate (in Singapore) wanted to ride a Kawasaki Ninja bike overnight and wear his trademark sunglasses. It was awesome… How we relive our fantasy through our heroes!

9. Like Jackie Chan, Cruise was known to perform many dangerous stunts. His exploits include climbing the exterior of the Burj Khalifa while filming Mission Impossible.

10. Cruise received his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in the movie Born On the Fourth Of July. He portrayed a Vietnam war veteran who turned to activism.

Tom Cruise has proved he could hold his own, appearing opposite screen legends and excelling. He has many more good years ahead doing what he loves most.
